JULY PLAYLIST 🎧 – MONTHLY BLOG UPDATE πŸ“

Hi! How’s the Summer going? I am writing this monthly blog later than usual on purpose.  But first…press play on the playlist. Pretty please! πŸ™‚

I am on a car driving (well, not me right now) towards Paris. Yes, I’m finally going to be staying in France for a while.

The thing is, I couldn’t find the time to write this post at home. But when you know you are going to be travelling for 15 hours by car, of which 6-7 you’ll be driving… You don’t have to be too good at Maths to know that you have plenty of time to write this post.

eating a veggie gyros in Barcelona

The month started travelling too. I had to go to Barcelona for several reasons. Of course, each time I go for anything to any place in the world…I try the food. There are a couple of posts coming up about that, but I’m not in a rush.

cherries

On our way back, we stopped at Montserrat. I’d never been there and we both (Carlos and I) wanted a change on natural sights. The smoothie bottle below is the result of some intense heat and an uphill hike. I felt much better after drinking it.

On our way back, again. We spent the night at Bilbao. Because a girl was missing the Basque Country too much to let it be.
We arrived quite late at the hotel. But, luckily, they had a vending machine with sandwiches.

sandwich mixto

It took my money and the sandwich got stuck, but the girl in the reception gave me another coin. The second sandwich got stuck again, but I said “noooooooo” while weeping, and the universe granted me both sandwiches. The other flavour was tuna and tomato in case you were curious.

cat belly

The rest of the month was quite typical. Routines, cats, breakfasts…

breakfast oatmeal with goji berries and banana

I started giving up on hot beverages

turmeric latte

and my body started asking for mint water.

Carlos started reforming the control room in the studio, and that has been the main topic of his life (and a bit of mine too)

reahearsing drums studio musicians
There was not enough space to put all this in the studio, so we had to sacrifice a bit of the rehearsal area in order to keep working.

Nevermind, it’s very different now, and changes are always good. Although we did it because of the sound, it ended up being quite pretty. Carlos has great taste and he made a great job. I actually think his skills with wood are very useful in my life. I need to take advantage.

But while he did that, I had to work on the finances and many other business matters. Office work is becoming heavier each day for me. I am really into moving, and being stuck in a chair makes my life a bit miserable, to be honest.

ceviche

Being Summer and all that jazz, I made a fresh ceviche. Some years ago I used to make ceviche almost every week, but since I’m not eating too much fish lately, it’s been a while. This one was quite acidic, but I like that a lot. Normally I make them more balanced.

But the sunny wheather didn’t last too long. I thought that was only a Galician thing, but I’m now near Saintes, in France and the rain is pouring down. So I guess it’s not. But I like the rain. It makes me happy.  It turns the clouds into art pieces taken from a museum and put straight into the sky. Too intense? I don’t think so.

stormy sky

The only thing about too much rain is the damp weather doesn’t really suit me. Nor does a 100 year old house, or the cats.

shahi paneer

But weather changes, and even though we see that happen every day, we don’t get used to it.

avocado and green sprouts salad

There were a lot of salads in June. In and outside the house. I even had lunch in the campus where I used to study some years ago. And I asked for a salad.

ensalada facultad de derecho udc

June had more movement and that is something I really appreciate. It usually happens, when the solstice is coming up, you notice people are feeling happier and more cheerful and things move accordingly to our moods.

Fisterra - Finisterre

I enjoyed making a simple ritual for St. John’s night. There’s a bit more explained in this post. I am a ritual lady. That day I was feeling a bit too tired for bonfires and staying up until late, so I just grabbed my herbs and flowers for the cacho and decided to go to bed early. You need to adjust to what you are feeling, even if it’s tradition and you always do it.

Cacho de San Juan Galicia

There were some days of eating outside because I didn’t even find the time to go buy something to eat, so don’t make me start talking about cooking.

beer pintxo donostiarra y pintxo atun con tomate

And my mum gave me homemade tomato sauce one day that I turned into a warm Salmorejo soup. I can’t say no to homemade tomato soup.

Tallking about my mother, it was her birthday this month. And because she doesn’t want to appear in my photos, I wont post a photo of her. But I’ll say we finally (my sister and I) could make a surprise birthday party without her suspecting. We even took our grandma and I made them enter in the trunk of the van to yell “Surprise!” at her. My grandma was cool with that. Even Siva, the dog…We were all happy to surprise her.

This Chicken Satay Wrap was one of the many dishes I made for the birthday party.

More movement…let me think. I visited Costa da Morte, one more time.

Fisterra - Finisterre - Costa da Morte

If you’ve never stayed in the area, you must. In this case I stayed in Fisterra and then in Camelle to visit Carlos’s family (they always give me food) Don’t say no to food. Ever.

Bumblebee jasper gem stone crystal

I bought this beautiful Bumblebee Jasper in Fisterra. A new acquisition for my collection. I needed more yellow stones to balance my solar plexus. The story with this one is fun. I went there a couple of years ago and fell in love with the stone, but I fell in love after leaving (this happens to me often with rocks, it’s weird and difficult to explain) I came back some years later and couldn’t help buying it.

Fun fact, it’s not actually a jasper, but the name is the name. The yellow colour is due to the sulfur content. You know me…always learning πŸ™‡πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Camelle was featuring a lovely cold day of Summer, but the clouds finally gave up and brought some sun. Carlos’s mum gave me this beautiful Dahlia. I can’t explain how beautiful this colour is. I’m kind of nuts about rosΓ© things.

I had to

I was craving Indian food a couple of times, so I made a Dahl, because it was perfect for the winter weather πŸ˜…

vegan dahl with brown rice

Also, it might have been the cold, but I started crocheting again. I’m actually crocheting as soon as I finish writing this. I’m convinced I’m going to finish this blanket once and for all!

But Sun and hot weather was around the corner and Summer  fruit  is one of the bestest things ever.

fruit platter

Well, there’s something that can be a bit better. A new waffle maker. I’ve been dreaming about buying one for ages. Then, Adriana (follow her on insta if you like flowers, paleo diet or anything really…she’s very versatile <3) started posting photos of her homemade waffles and I had to.
I bought one to use in the oven and on the stove. I’m very rustic myself and I think it goes well with the houseπŸ™‚

So, that’s a warning for new waffle recipes as soon as I go back home. But meanwhile I’ll be living the French Life. I’ve started a bit earlier with the playlist and this RosΓ© afternoon:

rosΓ© jambon beurre brie au lait cru bleu d'auvergne cheese platter french apero

I hope you enjoyed the post and the playlist. I’m going to finish this post with a picture I took on June the 28th, when I coincidentally wore my rainbow socks.

pride

It really was by accident, but I noticed I was wearing them on Pride Day. I want to make a special mention to all victims of abuse, just because they love who they love. Your light is much appreciated, and I don’t believe in a world that kills people exclusively because they love people that are exactly like them. I am mentioning  this because of a murder that took place in my hometown.

I want to remind people of something before I start writing about this: not all heterosexual men are like that, don’t get offended if you are not like that, please.
What happens in the head of an heterosexual man that hate, bully, punch or kill another man just for liking a man? Can we stop and really think about this?

It doesn’t make sense. If a guy likes a guy…and you don’t understand (being a guy)…what happens, don’t you think you are likeable? Because if a girl likes a girl, I completely understand, you know…we girls are adorable, what’s not to love? Same with men, I like men…I think you are great, dudes…so if a guy likes another guy, it’s because guys are awesome. Doesn’t feel weird or bad to me, I don’t know. I just leave it there. Just in case you didn’t have a basic human rights class in school. I didn’t, but to me seems like it’s common sense. I’m open to hear your words against this, to try to understand violence in anyway. But I probably won’t understand violence, ever.

Whatever, I couldn’t end this post without talking about this. Thanks for reading. Have fun, stay safe and keep fooding!
