SEPTEMBER PLAYLIST π§ AUGUST MONTHLY BLOG π
Before we start, tune into the playlist so you and I get in the same mood π
Now, we’re talking. So, where do I start? Probably from the beginning, right?
The month started in Eibar. A little town in between Donosti and Bilbo. We were coming back from Paris and our idea was to stop in the south of France (as we always do) to enjoy one last breakfast in the country.
Well, we couldn’t. We forgot it was the first day of August and a Saturday. We are always travelling off-season, so we never notice these kinds of things.
I ended up searching for a hotel too many hours and finding nothing was available. More and more tired, each minute passed and I wasn’t lucky. Finally I found a nice hotel in Eibar, and I was so freaking thankful. You can’t imagine.
We stopped to make an improvised video of one of our songs (we like doing those things)
And after that, we headed home to Galiza.
I started eating like myself again after so much non-SΓlvia goodness. If you want to read more about it, you can go to my previous post.
I stopped eating processed foods, reduced my gluten intake and stopped taking sugar. My body thanked me in a couple of days. I had a lot of vitality, which I truly needed for all that was coming my way.
Even though August is usually a month for resting, travelling and so on…I was working A LOT. I know I repeat myself whenever I say I worked a lot. Don’t worry, I’ working on it π
During August I also started taking probiotics, I noticed something extra was needed. My body wasn’t responding as it should and all that sugar, refined flour and cheese in Paris made it worse. If you have an interest in nutrition, or anything that could improve your life be it stress management, health, happiness, ask me about my coaching sessions. I’m always trying new things and I can help you find what’s best for you π
The probiotics are working wonders, I’m still taking them but I already feel much better. Maybe not today because of the heatwave and the new moon. I am extremely tired. But you know, the rest of the days, I am feeling better.
Whenever you supplement something in your diet, be that probiotics, vitamins or whatever…it’s good to do the same with the food. That way your body takes it from everywhere and not only from pills.
I could still find some moments of calmness. I believe I had a balanced month. Even when there were a lot of things happening at the same time.
At the beginning of the month, Elisa and Esteban (some friends from Barcelona) went to Asturias and we met there. We had so much fun. If you follow me on Instagram you probably enjoyed Elisa’s amazing charisma while doing cooking videos.
We spent a day and a night there. We played basketball, they cooked for me (they’ve earned their right to go to heaven, that’s the price you need to pay)
We made a bbq that lasted all day, so we ended up making grilled sandwiches at night. They were amazing. The stars were amazing, it was New Moon too and you could see all the nebula. Magical β¨ I ended up sleeping in a van (with a bed) for the first time. I knew I was made for the #vanlife because I hadn’t slept that good in ages.
Next day, Esteban made a green pepper tortilla. It was perfect! Elisa made a salad that was as good as the tortilla and then we went for a walk. The place was stunning. A village lost in the middle of the mountains. Even if I live in a very similar place, I can’t get enough of mountains and nature.
It was the perfect 24 hours. I love these guys so freaking much, and I really miss them when we’re apart for a while. We always try to enjoy our time together π
When I came back, the garden had some beautiful lettuces and onions. I am so grateful (and surprised) with the amount of veggies I am collecting this year. JalapeΓ±os are bursting with fruits!
A lot of good things happened in August actually. I am glad. But balance is always a part of life. And as I anticipated in the previous post I lost a very dear member of my family this month.
But, you know what? I happened to have a great time with my cousins. I have a small family but we get along very well. Whenever we get together, even in the hardest times, laughs are assured.
We gathered at my cousin Cris’s house and her boyfriend DamiΓ‘n (who is an ornithologist, a job I find fascinating π¦ππ¦) made this great recipe. Simple as it can be, delicious as hell: courgette, tomato, onion and cheese. Bake it. Done!
Even in the darkest moments you can get something good. Just change the focus and the light will point out to something beautiful.
I craved a lot of walnuts this month. Still craving them in September. They are the best type of craving, so I won’t complain.
Socialising in August was a recurrent thing. I went to Santiago. It’s the holy year and it was full of pilgrims arriving from their journey. The energy was cheerful and fascinating.
I met my craftsy beautiful friend Tere there. She made that lovely cross stitch piece. I think it’s the most beautiful thing ever. She even got my hair roots and my bra showing. She took care of every little detail.
We ate there with another good friend, Marcos. We spent some time talking about projects. We love talking about projects.
He took us to this nice traditional Galician place. More tortilla in August. I believe I change countries easily, from baguette all day to tortilla all day. No complains.
After all the social gatherings, some more SΓlvia’s Food. Roasted veggies, breakfasts…
Breakfasts in Summer are something that’s even better than in any other season. I enjoy them outside while the sun is already shining. In Spring I see the sunrise, but having those 15 minutes of sun and vitamin D makes it extra special. And the cats are always surrounding me π
There was a lot of this chili paste that I bought in France. I can’t even start to describe how good it tastes. I’ll probably try and make my own recipe. So be ready for me sharing good stuff. I need an excuse for all the habaneros growing in the plant.
There was a gig at the end of the month and I was incredibly glad for being able to play again. It was a pity that it was supposed to be due at the beginning of the month but the rain postponed it. Nonetheless, we were able to play after all.
We made a short visit to Carlos’s parents (I keep telling you, wherever they give me food…I go) Proof:
I enjoyed the lovely Camelle one more time. I can tell you I’m in love with the place. Sea and mountains all together. And good food. And nice people. C’mon! Paradise π
I started working in some future food projects. August was for sure a month for developing stuff. I’m glad I could create instead of focusing so much in office affairs and other “problems”

And while we are talking about tomatoes…my neighbours gifted me a lot of them this year. I am thrilled about that. If you’ve never tried a good ol’ tomato that doesn’t come from the supermarket, your life is not complete (yet). Do yourself a favour and try to eat one, at least once in your life.
Oh, but when you didn’t expect it…there was more tortilla π I met my family again for my aunt’s funeral and we ate some tortilla. We talked about us eating it when it was still raw (not the potatoes, just the egg) when our mum’s were cooking it when we were kids. I admitted that I still do it nowadays, when I make it. That’s the best thing ever. Do you do that too? Let me know if it’s just a family thing.
But what is August without ice cream? It’s been quite a while since I’ve had so much ice cream (4) in Summerπ
There’s something magical about ice cream. The only thing I don’t enjoy is how sweet they are. I’d love the option on non-sugar/non-sweetener ice cream. Once you stop eating sugar, your body gets overloaded with just a bit. I’ve always been a savoury type of person, maybe stew ice cream for me π.
Talking about stew…It’s also been a while since I had clams. I will talk to you about this place in a Express Experience soon. It’s also been a while since a Express Experience (check this one out)
Now that I write about August, it’s September already and the weather is feeling crazy. Yesterday it was 36ΒΊC here, which is not very common in my area. At night there was a thunderstorm, an incredible show of lights and sound. I couldn’t sleep until very late. Storms really energize me. Frist they make me feel incredibly tired. I spent three days sleeping for hours in the afternoon. But whenever all the tension from the storm resolves and the rain starts, I feel light and energized.
This one came with the new moon, which was a bit of a mixed type of energy. It’s fun how the cycles repeat themselves but with different nuances.
And finally, music! I enjoyed so much getting up in the stage again. It’s my favourite part of my job as a musician, and I can’t do it enough. It seems like a repetitive pattern in my life. There’s probably a very important life lesson I must learn from this. But, right now, I’m just trying to enjoy those tiny moments, without thinking too much about it.
Apart from having fun on the stage, I was able to try the food at A Casa do Lagoeiro. Even if I was so hungry at midnight, I took the time to take some photos that will be for another blog post. Oh gosh! I’m promising too many blog posts already! Not enough time in the world for all SΓlvia’s experiences π€ Just kidding, they’ll come.
One day, I found some old photos from my family and loved this one of my dad. Actually, apart from looking like him…he had my hairdo. I knew it was timeless π
I hope you had fun this month. Now, I’m really looking forward to start the tour in October. But first, I still have some time to get everything together for the last part of the year. Virgo energy makes me even more organised and I love making lists of goals and to-dos. I mean, who doesn’t like making lists? Before I leave you, if you’ve reached this part of the post, thank you for reading it. I really enjoy sharing this tiny parts of my life, and I’d really love knowing about yours.
As always, have fun and keep fooding! And if you want to connect with me and tell me stories and anecdotes of your month, you can DM on Instagram or send me an e-mail. I’d love to hear your recommendations and your stories.
See you soon! π
